Would anyone of you know whether someone on H1B can go ahead and hire a US citizen and be their employer? I know some people do hire nannies. How about for other everyday occupations?

I need an advice.
Last year, I petitioned for my husband to get his green card and I was in a rush to get the application in before the application fee shot up, so I forgot to make copies of all the documents being sent to USCIS. Now, the interview is next week and I don't have a few of the documents that they want us to bring. It says that if already submitted, I don't have to bring in those documents, but I've heard that sometimes the interviewers still demands them during the interview.
Is there any way of getting the documents from USCIS or is it lost forever?
We will have the interview next Thursday, 21st of February.

Hello - I just recd. the TRANSFER NOTICE for me & my wife's 485 case stating that the case has been transferred to USCIS-NBC, PO Box 648005, Lee's Summit, MO 64064. We had filed for AOS in July 2007 and my priority date for is April 2006 (EB-2).
I would appreciate it if somebody can please shed some light on what this means for us. What are the implications for us.? Will the case be transferred to the local office.? Should i start to gather documents for a interview.

My law firm applied my EAD/AP/485 on Aug 13th. I got my Receipt Notices for all three.
My question is where does USCIS send the FP Notice and EAD?
Do they send it to my house address or lawyer?

1. EAD six months, AP four months
2. SSN can be applied after getting EAD. Some times USCIS database is not updated and so it may take couple of weeks after you apply for getting SSN. Otherwise, it should come in 10 days.

Hi,
I am currently on H4 and had to file my H4 Extension as my current H4 was expiring. At the same time I also filed for H1B in 2008 and was picked up in the lottery. Now I am confused on which application the USCIS will consider.
Will it be H1B or H4?
If my H4 extension is approved after H1B will my status then becomes H4?
if H1B is approved after H4 will then the status becomes H1?
Is there a way that I can make sure the status at the end I have is H1B?

Hello,
Need advise since I'm planning to get my H1 B stamped... On my 2nd visit on B1 Visa (Business) in 2005 I got an offer to complete my master's degree(sponsorship). I applied for a change of status and was approved. I completed my master's degree and filed for OPT which got approved and finally H1. I'm currently working for more than a year on H1 B visa. I was planning to get stamping done at Hyderabad, India.
Is it safe enough to get the visa stamped? And, do I need to take any additional documents to ensure that the visa gets stamped.... Please advise....

I joined and contributed already to the IV although I am not yet on the GC queue. I support you all with my heart.
I have a different concern about PERM filing. My application will be EB2 with Ms + 4 years as Senior Soft Eng, and my lawyer asked my manager to create the business necessity letter for MS degree. He is not experienced with this kind of paperwork and the lawyer seems to be just not helpful rather demanding... I was wondering if somebody in IV had to deal with this business necessity letter. Any information would be helpful...

The "A" number eventually becomes your GC number. It is not necessarily the Visa Number...we don't get to see the Visa Number.

I would really appreciate it, if someone could give me some advice.
Here is my situation, in January 2005, I married my girlfriend, who I had dated for little over a year. She is a US born citizen, so we decided to file for my permanent residency upon marriage. Upon receipt of my Green Card in Jan 2008, I filed for naturalization. Our relationship started heading south last year. We tried counseling and it didn't work out. We finally decided to part our ways amicably in Sep, 2009.
I am 34 years old and for reasons unknown to me, I am showing signs of age. I have been also getting some pressure from my family in India to remarry. Though I do not have any plans to marry immediately, I wasn't sure if my getting naturalized in February 2009 would have any impact on marrying someone from India sometime next year?
Please let me know, if there are any cooling off period required?

I am in L2 visa right now and I have an EAD to work. I got a job that I need to start on oct 01.
My spouse status will change from L1 to H1B from oct 01, as his employer filled for H1B.
Our L1 & L2 are valid until Aug 2011.
I don't have H4 yet.
What are the various options available for me to work?
1. Can I use my EAD to work which is valid until aug 2011?
2. Can I apply for H1B for me? If yes when I can start working with my H1B.
3. Is there is any way to maintain my husband L1 status until it's validity(Aug 2011) and then switching to H1B after L1 expires?
